There are certain moments in a wedding day which you know are going to happen; the first kiss, the Wedding Breakfast entrance and the First Dance. However, there are the small moments between family or friends that are so loving that you can't help but smile. As well as the bridesmaids and the Bride's Mother, the heartwarming moments also come from the Bride's Father, who nine times out of ten can be seen holding back tears. With the stereotype of the father being a strong, protective figure for his daughter, it is always special to see the raw emotion.
I will admit I'm not the first to get emotional during romantic comedy films, but there has always been something that gets me, when it comes to father and son/daughter characters in films. A few years ago, I went to see Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain (to name a few). It soon became one of my favourite films, not only for it's stunning visuals and out of this world soundtrack, but for the beautiful way it presented Cooper and Murph's relationship. Christopher Nolan could have easily written in Cooper's wife but instead he chose his daughter, Murph. This had a great effect, the bond between the characters was not based on romance, it was based on love and care. This is what I love capturing at weddings, the true emotion. Whether it's the Bride's Father, the Groom or a close friend, capturing those moments is something truly special.
